After meeting at Woodseats Musical Theatre Company in Sheffield and going through the cheesiest audition process which ended with them playing love interests in the musical “Calamity Jane”, Matt finally plucked up the courage to ask Becki on their first date. In true Becki and Matt style they ended up in the train station shelter eating fish and chips...
Happy months went by and soon they decided to relocate to York and move in together. A year later they planned a once in a lifetime trip to New York for the New Year celebrations and it was in this moment a plan was hatched.
On Boxing Day in 2016, with Becki still in bed (standard), Matt went downstairs to ask her parents Karen and Pete if they would approve of him asking to take Becki's hand in marriage, to which they happily agreed.
They spent New Year’s Eve in Times Square on the coldest night in New York history, and on New Year’s Day they took a walk in Central Park. In true Matt fashion he got his words all mixed up, gave up and just got down on one knee in the middle of the park saying 'I just love you, will you marry me?' Becki (luckily) said yes.
After returning home, celebrations continued and the wedding planning began, which has led them to this year, the year in which they will exchange their vows in front of their families and friends. Becki and Matt are so excited for their big day and especially to be celebrating it with those closest to them.
